BGamer
About
BGamer is an independent community project for offline and LAN play on classic Call of Duty games. Originally created by Die_Rache.
The project
BGamer was created by Die_Rache as a personal project to make classic Call of Duty games easier to play at LAN parties without depending on external online services. LAN play should work the same whether or not a master server is reachable.
The project was originally known as BGamer and BerstigGamer, and its first website was hosted on Jimdo. Releases were later distributed through gaming and modding communities including CabConModding.
Three projects were produced: bgIW4 for Modern Warfare 2, bgT5 for Black Ops, and bgIW5 for Modern Warfare 3.
Years after the original releases, players continue to discover the project, leave comments, and build on the original work with community fixes and improvements.
Current goal
This website is an effort to give the BGamer project a trustworthy, permanent home. The goals are:
- Preserve the original work and its history.
- Provide trustworthy, verified download locations.
- Make the software easier to understand and use.
- Give community-maintained versions a clear, separate place.
- Allow selected projects to receive new maintenance releases.
